Lancaster & Morecambe
Visit Lancaster’s castle and museums to uncover the city’s ancient stories hidden in its walls and buildings. Stroll the meandering footpaths of the canal or along St George’s Quay, marvelling at the Georgian architecture which lines the banks of the River Lune. Dating back almost a thousand years, Lancaster Castle was the location of Britain’s most famous witch trial. More than 400 years later visitors can discover the majestic courtrooms and find out about the so-called Lancashire Witches. To the west of Lancaster, Morecambe has stunning views over the bay where stage coaches used to race against the tide. Walk along the promenade and see the bronze statue of Eric Morecambe, his familiar pose still bringing sunshine!
An excursion to Liverpool where attractions include The Liver Building, two cathedrals and Albert Docks with its museums and shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. There’s also “The Beatle’s Story” which takes visitors on an enlightening journey of the rise to fame of the “Fab Four”. End your trip with a “ferry cross the Mersey”.
