The Swanage Railway
A great day out. The heritage railway attraction operates full-size steam and diesel passenger trains along the five and a half miles of line from Nordon to Corfe Castle and down to the Victorian seaside town of Swanage. The station shop at Swanage is well stocked with souvenirs.
Poole Harbour and Island Cruise
Experience the seaside splendour during a cruise around Europe’s largest natural harbour. Climb aboard the boat and pass picturesque Brownsea Island, the famous Sandbanks peninsula, Studland Bay and more. Listen to illuminating commentary from the captain as you sail from the picturesque town of Poole.

The Mary Rose was a ship in Henry VIII’s navy, which he had built when he came to the throne in 1509. In 1545 it was part of a defensive fleet when a large French armada attacked the Isle of Wight. For reasons unknown the Mary Rose capsized taking her crew of around 500 to the bottom of the sea, a couple of miles off the coast of Portsmouth. It is arguably more famous for the massive salvage operation which was televised in 1982.
