From Porto to Douro Valley, discover the culture and wine of Northern Portugal

One of the most beautiful places in the world, the Douro Valley comes alive in September with grape harvesting for world famous wines. Become a part of this with the locals, and take part in a wonderful vindima experience.

Itinerary/Excursions

Day 01

Board your flight and arrive in Porto airport. Take a private transfer with assistance to your hotel in Porto. Enjoy dinner in your hotel.

Day 02

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before meeting with your local guide to spend the day in Porto. Porto is the second largest city in Portugal, and a panoramic tour of the city and historical district will reveal its rich and historic past. A couple of highlights of the tour are the S.Bento Station with its magnificent Azulejos panels, the Stock Exchange (Palácio da Bolsa), and its famous Arab salon. You will then take a stroll through the typical district of Ribeira, with its narrow, cobbled streets and colourful townhouses. After some free time for lunch, enjoy a boat ride on the River Duoro to discover the six main bridges and admire the beautiful landscape. Finish the day with a visit to the famous cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, where the famous port wine is aged, with a technical visit and tasting included. 

Day 03

After breakfast, and check out of your first hotel, drive to Penafiel to visit Quinta de Aveleda, with a wine tasting included. In the heart of the Vinho Verde Wine Region, surrounded by delicious details, a piece of ancient times, an evasion of the senses. When entering this space, you travel through the history of a visionary family in a breathtaking journey for each of your senses. In this beautiful backdrop, you will enjoy a picnic lunch in Quinta's Gardens. 

Day 04

Journey to a local wine producer, for a day Harvest programme. This vindima experience will allow you to experience the Douro Valley and it's wine region in the most authentic way possible - harvesting the grapes with the locals! As well as the fabulous vindima experience, a guided tour, wine tasting, and traditional harvest lunch will all be ready for you to enjoy today.

Day 05

Favaios, in the wonderful UNESCO World Heritage region, is perhaps the most authentic and noble village in the area. With strong ties to the land, the locals perpetuate the stories of their ancestors of the cultivation of their vines and wines, as well as the production of the traditional Favaios bread. This winegrowing village filled with history and culture, good wines, sumptuos bread where time has stood still. You will then visit Avessada Enoteca with a wine tasting and picnic included before embarking on a one-hour cruise in Pinhao. After your cruise, visit the train station decorated with tiles depicting the production of port wine.                                                               

Day 06

After breakfast and check out, take a private transfer with assistance back to Porto airport.
