Delicate Blooms of Wisteria Blossom Along the Italian Riveria

When April sets in, Wisteria bursts into bloom with beautiful purple, pink, and white flowers.  The Wisteria collection of the Gardini di Villa della Pegola, “The most beautiful park in Italy”, includes 34 different varieties in terms of shape and colour.  You will find yourself immersed in extremely different environments and discover the botanical wonders of the world.

Price is per person sharing a double or twin room and is based on 25 passengers. Single supplement applies.

  • Itinerary/Excursions

    Day 01 - Arrival

    Arrive in Genoa airport, with a meet and greet from an English-speaking tour guide who will stay with you for the transfer.

    Day 02 - Alassio, Albenga and Gardens of Villa della Pergola 

    Visit Alassio, a town known for its scenic and natural views. Nearby, is the city of Albenga, where you will also be visiting. Nicknamed "city of hundered spires", the main attraction here is the medieval walled city which contains important historic monuments such as the 5th century Baptistery, the cathedral and a series of medieval towers.

    Facing the marvellous Gulf of Alassio, is the Giardini di Villa della Pergola, a historical Park built in the late 19th-Century, offering breathtaking and peerless views over the Gulf Gallinara Island. The restored 22,000 square metre estate is home to renowned botanical collections such as Wisteria, with 34 varieties, and a unique collection of almost 500 different varieties of Agapanthus.

    Day 03 - San Remo, Ventimiglia and Hanbury Gardens

    Visit San Remo, known for having the most important flower market in Italy, exporting blooms to continental Europe. Olives and lemons are also cultivated here, and along with many beautiful sights, visiting this city will give you a wonderful taste of a coastal, yet botanical city. You will also visit Ventimiglia, where a visit to the Old Town is a must - with historic churches, squares, boutique shops, and restaurants.

    Afterwards, spend time at Hanbury Gardens, one of the most important and famous botanical gardens in the world, made by their founder, Sir Thomas Hanbury, to experiment with acclimatisation. You will descend 103m from the entrance to the sea, winding down the paths through nine hectares of garden, where you will find the forest of eucalyptus, the acacia area, bamboos, the succulent collection and the scented garden, the Giardinetti with roses and peonies, among other important collections.

    Day 04 - Castelvecchio and Imperia

    Castelvecchio translates to "Old Castle", and this magnificent structure hosts one of the most fascinating museums in Europe. Castelvecchio was built in 1355 by the Della Scala family, the ruling dynasty of Verona in the middle age. Since 1928, the building has housed the museum of Veronese art and has exhibited exciting art collections and is well-known for its rich history and architectural value. 

    Imperia is well known for the cultivation of flowers and olives. Here, you will enjoy an olive oil tasting, along with other local snacks.

    Day 05 - Day at Leisure

    Enjoy a day at leisure.

    Day 06 - Departure

    Take the coach back to Genova airport. Once back in the UK, a private transfer will return to your pick-up point.
