  • Itinerary/Excursions

    Day 01 - Arrival

Fly from Gatwick Airport with Easyjet to Catania Airport. Take a private coach from the airport to your hotel in Taormina.

    Day 02 - Mount Etna & Taormina

Take a 4 hour private guided tour on Mount Etna, complete with a visit to a local farmhouse at the foot of the stratovolcano. At the farmhouse, you will be greeted with a warm welcome, and a local wine tasting, accompanied by local olives, breads, and antipasti.

After an exciting first part of the day with Etna, join a local, licensed guide to visit Taormina. Taormina  is one of the great stars of Italy's largest island. Pastel-painted buildings and Baroque church spires stream down the scenic cliffs, with a dose of La Dolce Vita settling on the side of the Strait of Messina. The highlight of the tour is admission to the Greek Theatre of Taormina, one of the most admired pearls on the Ionian Sea. A fun fact about the ampitheatre is that while it is known as an ampitheatre, the site is actually an ancient theatre - not the gladiatorial arena the term usually means today.

Day 03 - Day at Leisure

    Spend a day at leisure.

Day 04 - Siracusa & Isola di Ortigia

A private walking tour of Siracusa will take you to its wonderful archaelogical park. The Neapolis Archaelogical Park presents many important Greek and Roman archaelogical remains. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Greek theater, the Roman amphitheater, the ancient stone quarries, the ear of Dionysus, the altar of Hieron, are just some of the monuments found within this large green area, located at the entrance of the modern town of Syracuse. The Isola di Ortigia is the historical heart of Syracuse, joined by three bridges. An absolute treasure to visit, it is brimming with two and a half thousand years of history for you to investigate. Enjoy a 2-course lunch at a local restaurant in Siracusa (drinks at an extra cost).

Day 05 - Piazza Armerina & Villa Romana del Casale

Piazza Armerina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famed for its archaelogical and historical formation, where the green woods form the backdrop. The dark cobbled streets and Baroque monuments displayed amidst impressive Norman and Gothic architecture and 17th century palazzos make the commune an interesting place to visit. Nearby, visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Villa Romana del Casale. The unique collection of mosaics in the large and elaborate Roman villa, and the large estate symbolise the Roman exploitation of the countryside. The extent of this is depicted with the lavishness of the art, but also, the skill is to be awed at.

    Day 06 - Departure

Take a private coach transfer from the hotel to Catania Airport, before boarding your plane back to Gatwick.
