Itinerary/Excursions

Day 01

Arrive at Funchal Airport, where you will be welcomed by your driver before transferring toyour hotel. At a convenient time to be arranged, a representative will schedule a welcomemeeting. Afterward, enjoy dinner as you settle into the hotel..

Day 02

Leaving Funchal, you will take the windy road to Pico do Areeiro, the third highest point ofthe island (1810m).Continue through the Laurisilva Forest, A Nature World Heritage site. Continue to RibeiroFrio, located 17km from Funchal and known for its beautiful gardens where plants andtrees live side by side in perfect harmony. You will see a variety of native plants, some quiterare. There will also be an opportunity to visit a trout hatchery.Continuing then to Faial, with impressive beauty of the surrounding mountains, andSantana, well known for its typical thatched roof houses.You will then have lunch at the vineyard property Quinta do Furao, with panoramic viewsover the east of the island. After lunch, the tour continues to the small town of Porto daCruz and its harbour tucked in to the eastern flank of the Eagle Rock which dominates thecoastal landscape. Heading back to the hotel, you pass by the city of Machio, the first capitalof Madeira. Dinner at your hotel.Optional extra: rum tasting €5.00pp

Day 03

This is the most popular visit, taking in the whole of the western side of the island, with themost dramatic and breathtaking scenery. Pass by the picturesque fishing town of Câmarade Lobos (stop for optional Poncha), and visit the viewpoint Cabo Girâo, the highest seacliff in Europe and the second highest in the world (580m). Travel inland across themysterious plateau of Pâul da Serra to Porto Moniz with its natural volcanic rock pools.Your journey then continues to Sâo Vicente, a pretty mountain village along thenorthwestern coast, where waterfalls cascade down the rock face into the deep blue ocean.Dinner at your hotel.Optional extra: picnic €15.00pp, Poncha in Câmara de Lobos €5.00pp

Day 04

Start the day with a stroll through the hustle and bustle of the Farmers Market. Discoverthe display of subtropical produce of this island such as fruits, vegetables, flowers and fish.From here you will head to the cable car station, where you can take the cable car(optional) to Monte, a village in the suburbs of Funchal, well known for its lush vegetationand the two-spired church of Our Lady of Monte. On arrival at Monte, visit the Monta PalaceTropical Garden, belonging to the Joe Berardo foundation. The garden boasts plants fromall over the world, on which a wide number of species has already been planted includingazaleas, heather, different trees and a wide variety of ferns. The African Art and rare stonesmuseum are also situated on the same property of this garden. Monte is home to the wellknownwicker toboggans. You may experience a 10-minute ride (optional) in this uniquemean of transport, powered by two ‘carreiros’ or sledge drivers, originally used to carrywood and other produce into town.Next visit the Old Madeira Wine Lodge and taste two Madeira wines. Then travel along thenarrow and winding road up to Eira do Serrado (1094mts) with breathtaking views downinto the Nuns Valley.Optional extra: cable car ride €14.50pp, toboggan ride €17.50pp.

Free day- Suggestions – visit to the Botanical Gardens in Funchal/3-hour Catamaran trip.

Day 06

Welcome to your half day tour to the Madeira Wine Festival in Estraito de Câmara deLobos! This delightful journey takes you into the heart of Madeira’s wine culture wheretradition, celebration and local flavours come together in one of the islands most charmingvillages. During the festival, the streets come alive with music, folklore performance, winetastings, and the vibrant energy of the grape harvest season. It is a perfect opportunity toexperience the islands heritage, meet the locals and enjoy some of the finest Madeirawines.

Day 07

Free day- Suggestions - take the bus from the hotel and explore the city of Funchal and its WineFestival atmosphere.

Day 08

Transfer to the airport for your journey home.
