Prague's centre is cobbled, the castle district sits above the river, and the walking tours are done on foot by necessity rather than choice. Most guests in reasonable health manage comfortably at an unhurried pace, but if you have concerns about distance, steps or standing, ask us before booking and we will talk you through what each day involves.

Prague and Bohemia in Five Days
Our Prague holiday covers the duration of five days, with four nights at the Hotel Duo and a private tour manager for the duration. Walking tours cover the ground that matters most: the Old Town Square and its astronomical clock, Charles Bridge with its ranks of blackened statues, and the climb up to the castle district above the river.
A cruise on the Vltava gives you Prague from the water, which is where the run of bridges and the castle silhouette make most sense. One day heads west to Karlovy Vary, the nineteenth-century spa town in the Teplá valley where colonnades line the river and visitors still sip mineral water from spouted porcelain cups, with a glassworks visit alongside it.
All excursions and coach travel are included, so the cost of the holiday is largely settled before you leave.
Czech Food, Beer and Wine
Czech cooking is honest and filling: roast pork with dumplings, beef in cream sauce, thick soups, and freshwater carp at Christmas. Bohemian beer needs little introduction, since Pilsen gave its name to the pale lager brewed across the world, and Czechs still drink more of it per head than anyone else.
Less well known is Moravian wine, from the vineyards along the Austrian border in the south-east. The whites in particular — Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, the local Pálava — are worth ordering when you see them.
Our Prague tour includes four evening meals, taken at restaurants in different parts of the city rather than all in one hotel dining room, plus a traditional wine inn. It is a straightforward way to eat well without having to book tables in a language you do not speak.
