Shannon's Visit to Kynren
Last weekend, Shannon was invited to County Durham to attend the Press Preview Event of Kynren, and what a fantastic evening she had! The evening programme ran like clockwork, from arriving at the show, to saying our farewells to the friendly volunteers. Kynren is perfect for a group tour, and here is why:

BEFORE THE EVENT
“Travelling to Kynren was seamless - the volunteers at the entrance guided our coach into a well-appointed parking bay, close to the footpath to Kynren. All volunteers were incredibly helpful, and their enthusiasm made me feel excited before I’d entered the main event. The walk to Kynren was a slight descent, for approximately 5 minutes. Music and drums guided the way, which enhanced the excitement yet also left a sense of wonder.
Once you enter Kynren, you can find a well-priced eatery offering snacks, drinks and main courses. The seating is outdoor; however, you’ll be spoilt for choice as to where to sit. All seating is lit under beautiful fairy lights, which enhance the whimsical experience.
The brand-new Viking Village is an interesting yet immersive pre-show attraction. As you amble through the village, you learn about the Viking’s way of life, from their farming to blacksmith and woodwork - you may even see some sword fighting. Throughout the journey, your senses are targeted & as you can imagine, all the sounds amplify the excitement for the event.
DURING KYNREN
The main show generally starts at 21.15, allowing you plenty time to enjoy the amenities or to relax and appreciate the wonderful surroundings. Once you enter the main arena, you can view over the beautiful grounds, where views extend over to the Auckland Palace. The music carries through to the main stage, which truly builds a wonderful atmosphere.
The show begins with the story of Arthur, who takes you through the British history timeline from 100AD. You are transported from Boudicca’s revolt to WWII, experiencing all the main historical events between. There are battles, dances, horses racing, sheep running frantically and many emotional moments throughout. I won’t say too much, but there are many surprises along the way which truly amplify the experience. The finale hosted a beautiful firework show with the union jack taking centre stage. No one was seated when we applauded – I think this alone shows how amazing the show was.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Kynren is not just a show, it is an immersive outdoor spectacle in which you learn about our country’s rich history. People of all ages attended, and no one left without a smile. If you are looking for something different, I would highly recommend both Kynren and County Durham for your next group tour.”
