Three world-class museums make up Madrid's famous Golden Triangle of Art

Museo del Prado, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museo Nacional are three of the most representative art museums in the world. Madrid is the cultural heart of Spain, offering amazing architecture, delectable food, world-class galleries, and plenty of history. Whichever way you turn, you will encounter a new experience to make you fall in love with Madrid.

Itinerary/Excursions

Day 01

Fly from either a northern or a southern airport to Madrid (exact flight and destination will be confirmed at the end of September when flight schedules are released). Once at the airport in Madrid, transfer to Hotel Porcel Ganivet. Enjoy dinner at leisure.

Day 02

After breakfast, take a morning walk with your tour manager in the historic centre of Madrid. This walk will show you the picturesque Plaza Mayor, the Mercado de San Miguel, or the famous Puerta del Sol. After some free time for lunch, embark on a guided tour of the El Prado, one of the best-known museums in the world. 

Day 03

As Madrid is such a large city, this morning you will make use of the coach to visit areas further afield from the hotel. After some free time for lunch, visit the Reina Sofia Museum, which houses excellent modern art from around the world, but focusing on the three 20th-century Spanish masters: Picasso, Dali and Miró. Your guide will be ready with lots of information about the art, including Picasso's iconic Guernica. 

Day 04

Today you will venture out of Madrid, to Toledo nearby, known as the city of 3 faiths, as Christianism, Judaism, and Islam lived side by side here for centuries. This brought a great wealth of knowledge and culture to this wonderful city. Your guide will tell you all about the city, as well as taking you to the fine art museum, with focuses on 'El Greco'. After some free time for lunch, spend some time exploring this city at your leisure before returning to Madrid.

Day 05

This morning you will visit the third of the museums in the 'Golden Triangle', Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. Here you will be able to see work ranging from the medeival era to contemporary in a very well laid out collection. Your guide will be giving information about the most iconic pictures, and how to make the most of the museum. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Madrid.

Day 06

Today you will have a day at leisure to explore as you wish. Perhaps visit Doctor Forquet's, the Retiro Park, The Royal Palace or the bustling shopping area behind Puerta del Sol. Your tour guide will also be available if you would like any other suggestions.

Day 07

Transfer to Madrid Airport for your flight back home.

Hotel Porcel Ganivet 3*

Hotel Porcel Ganivet is ideally located near the Puerta del Toledo, an area with a beautifully authentic atmosphere and located near some of Madrid's most important sites, such as the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, the main museums, and the Plaza Mayor to name a few. The city centre can be explored from the hotel on foot by walking along charming roads.

The rooms are comfortable, equipped with everything you need to make your visit enjoyable. Each room is modern, with parquet flooring and an ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower.

A buffet breakfast is served each morning with a wide range of foods, and you can grab a bite to eat at the snack bar.

Make sure you take a moment to visit the sun terrace to savour the skyline of Madrid, or soak in the jacuzzi on the rooftop whilst admiring Madrid's sky, known for often being clear and blue.
