In 1846, Queen Victoria wrote “It’s a beautiful spot, red cliffs and rocks with wooded hills like Italy and reminding one of a ballet or play where nymphs appear. Such rocks and grottoes, with the deepest sea on which there was no ripple.” Over 150 years later, it still feels the same. Great beaches, wonderful coast path walks, fantastic attractions, fresh local fish and seafood and a theatre.

Babbacombe Model Village on the English Riviera is famous for its miniature landscaped gardens leading it to be branded as one of Europe’s premier model villages and one of Torquay’s most beautiful gardens.
Babbacombe Downs, The Cliff Railway and Oddicombe Beach
Beautiful Babbacombe Downs has the highest cliff top promenade in England, on a clear day you can see across to Portland Bill, Dorset. The Cliff Railway, operating since 1926, is a great way to get down the cliff to Oddicombe Beach below.
Dartmouth
We can visit the very picturesque harbour town of Dartmouth. Perhaps take a trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway (additional charge).
Brixham and Buckfast Abbey
Perhaps visit the pretty fishing port of Brixham. Buckfast Abbey, the place where the Monastic Community lives and prays at various times throughout the day. The original abbey was founded in 1018 by King Cnut.

A warm welcome awaits you at the Babbacombe Hotel offering friendly and comfortable surrounds directly on the sea front overlooking the famous Babbacombe Downs with far reaching beautiful views across Lyme Bay. Many of the 80 bedrooms have stunning sea views and some have private balconies. The hotel has a lift to most bedrooms, 8 ground floor as well as several single and disabled friendly rooms with wet rooms or step in showers with easy access. Rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, TV and hairdryer.
